World Music Songs :: Acoustic, Jazz, Ambient and Soundtrack

The idea to translate travel experiences in music grew out of a necesity a few years ago while traveling for 18 months in South America (after the journey he lived 2 years in Argentina). There was an inner urge to share all those amazing stories with world music lovers around the globe.

"The compositions set on "Impresiones" portray some of the amazing adventures I had during my 4 year stay in South America," Mark comments. "After returning home I arranged the compositions made during the trip. New compositions were added. The challenge lay in translating a journey of such variety in music."

The resulting world music CD "Impresiones" took two years to complete. "It became obvious during the first recording session that all instruments had to be recorded separately," Mark says.

With songs having scores of up to 40 pages with multiple time and key changing passages there was a challenge to be met from everybody involved. "I had some fantastic moments in the recording studio with some of the best musicians from the country," Mark comments. "To hear your world music compositions come alive after so much love and dedication is a magical experience."

Mark recently traveled for 3 months in Southeast Asia and is currently composing new world music songs based on travel experiences from his stay in Cambodia, Burma, Vietnam and Laos.
